Sustainable Biological Ammonia Production towards a Carbon-Free Society
نویسندگان
چکیده
A sustainable society was proposed more than 50 years ago. However, it is yet to be realised. For example, the production of ammonia, an important chemical widely used in agriculture, steel, chemical, textile, and pharmaceutical industries, still depends on fossil fuels. Recently, biological approaches achieve ammonia have been gaining attention. Moreover, unlike methods, a lesser environmental impact because can produced under mild conditions normal temperature pressure. Therefore, previous studies, nitrogen fixation by nitrogenase, including enzymatic using food waste, has attempted. Additionally, crops nitrogen-fixing bacteria implemented industry as one most promising achieving economy. Thus, this review, we described studies showed prospects for realising society.

Ammonia (NH3) is a key commodity chemical of vital importance for fertilizers. It is made on an industrial scale via the Haber Bosch process, which requires significant infrastructure to be in place such that ammonia is generally made in large, centralized facilities. If ammonia could be produced under less demanding conditions, then there would be the potential for smaller devices to be used t...
متن کاملBiological control and sustainable food production.
The use of biological control for the management of pest insects pre-dates the modern pesticide era. The first major successes in biological control occurred with exotic pests controlled by natural enemy species collected from the country or area of origin of the pest (classical control). Augmentative control has been successfully applied against a range of open-field and greenhouse pests, and ...
متن کاملTowards Sustainable Production of Biofuels from Microalgae
Renewable and carbon neutral biofuels are necessary for environmental and economic sustainability. The viability of the first generation biofuels production is however questionable because of the conflict with food supply. Microalgal biofuels are a viable alternative. The oil productivity of many microalgae exceeds the best producing oil crops. This paper aims to analyze and promote integration...
متن کاملTowards a carbon-negative sustainable bio-based economy
The bio-based economy relies on sustainable, plant-derived resources for fuels, chemicals, materials, food and feed rather than on the evanescent usage of fossil resources. The cornerstone of this economy is the biorefinery, in which renewable resources are intelligently converted to a plethora of products, maximizing the valorization of the feedstocks. Innovation is a prerequisite to move a fo...
